K-pop girl group NewJeans is preparing to resume musical activities, its agency ADOR said Monday, as the group has reportedly been spotted in Copenhagen. "The members are preparing for new activities in line with their individual conditions and schedule," the company said, adding the visit to Copenhagen is "part of pre-production in its new musical journey." "We will officially share their future direction when the time is right," it added. NewJeans members Hanni, Haerin and Hyein have been spotted in the Danish city, according to fans on online forums. A confirmed studio reservation under the group's name further fueled speculation that they were visiting for new music recordings. Last year, the three members returned to the group following a lengthy dispute with their agency. Whether Minji will rejoin has not been decided yet, and Danielle's contract has been terminated. Agency to Hold Danielle's Family, Ex-CEO Accountable and Resolve Disputes ADOR, the agency of group NewJeans, announced the termination of the exclusive contract with member Danielle. ADOR stated in an official position on the 29th, “After the final ruling in the lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract, we have had many conversations with Minji, Hanni, Danielle, and the families of the three members.” It added, “Hanni visited Korea with her family and had in-depth conversations with ADOR over a long period. During this process, we revisited past events and took time to objectively view the issues.” It continued, “After sincere discussions, Hanni decided to continue with ADOR, respecting the court’s ruling.” Additionally, it said, “Minji is also in discussions with ADOR, and we are continuing to expand mutual understanding.” However, it noted, “In the case of Danielle, we judged that it would be difficult to continue together as a NewJeans member and an artist under ADOR, and thus we notified the termination of the exclusive contract today.” It added, “We plan to hold legally responsible the one family member of Danielle and former CEO Min Hee-jin, who are significantly responsible for causing this dispute situation and the delay in NewJeans' departure and return.” ADOR explained, “During the discussions, we learned that the members had been continuously exposed to distorted and biased information for a long time, leading to many misunderstandings about the company and even disputes.” It stated, “We agreed that to restore the love of fans and the public, it is necessary to completely resolve misunderstandings based on accurate facts, even if it takes some time.” It added, “We will share details about the controversies that arose during the dispute at a later opportunity, and we are currently discussing the timing and method.” It concluded, “We will do our best to resolve the matter smoothly and have NewJeans return to their fans as soon as possible.” On October 30 of last year, the Civil Division 41 of the Seoul Central District Court (Judge Jeong Hoe-il) ruled in favor of ADOR in the lawsuit filed by ADOR against the five NewJeans members to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract. NewJeans members Haein and Hyein officially announced their return to the agency through ADOR on the 12th of last month. ADOR stated, “We will do our best to ensure Haein and Hyein can continue their entertainment activities smoothly.” Minji, Danielle, and Hanni announced their intention to return to the public through their law firm on the same day. NewJeans’ Return — It’s Time to End the Confusion   “We hope this will serve as the opportunity for the members to return to their rightful place as ‘NewJeans’ and resume activities. As NewJeans marks their third debut anniversary next month, the company plans to give its full support so they can achieve greater leaps and growth.”   This was ADOR’s statement after the Seoul High Court dismissed NewJeans’ objection to the injunction banning independent activities last June. During the lawsuit, ADOR promised its full support for NewJeans. When the court asked for ADOR’s support plans for the group, the company even submitted concrete future activity plans, including upcoming album releases. It looked as if everything was ready for them to move forward once the legal dispute ended.   However, as of the 19th — a full week since all five NewJeans members lost the first trial and announced they would return to ADOR — the company has still not officially announced “the full return of all NewJeans members.” ADOR only announced the return of Haerin and Hyein first and stated merely that it was “coordinating individual meeting schedules” for Minji, Hanni, and Danielle.   Confusion has grown as ADOR has yet to release an official stance after saying it was “verifying the intent” behind the remaining three members’ sudden announcement — delivered about two hours after Haerin and Hyein’s return was made public on the 12th — that they, too, wished to return to ADOR. Some NewJeans fans even filed a collective petition to the office of Culture Minister Choi Hee-young, claiming that “NewJeans’ personality rights are being violated.”   What ADOR must do now is not complicated. It needs to clearly state its position regarding the group’s future direction in order to dispel market anxiety and speculation. The legal conditions for the members’ return have already been met. The court recognized the validity of the exclusive contract between ADOR and NewJeans through July 2029, and with the members withdrawing their appeal, the ruling is now final.   An official announcement carries significant weight. All future decisions — comeback schedules, tour plans, global brand contracts — hinge on whether “NewJeans as a five-member group will resume normal activities.” The stock price will also be affected. If ADOR drags things out with ambiguity, it will only heighten market suspicions that “another conflict has begun.”   This issue goes beyond one team and one label; it is a test of how matured the K-pop industry has become. The world is watching this situation closely. On the 18th (local time), U.S. public broadcaster NPR published a report titled “How NewJeans (Almost) Changed K-pop,” stating, “In a K-pop industry where scandals and corporate corruption are nothing new, this conflict feels particularly tragic,” and noting, “It is deeply troubling that the most polished team in K-pop has become a symbol of the industry’s dysfunction.”   ADOR must keep its promises and, at the very least, respect the court’s decision by promptly announcing the group’s full-member return. That is the path that benefits the members, the fans, the HYBE shareholders, and the K-pop industry as a whole.

On November 12, 2025, ADOR publicly announced that two of the group’s members, Haerin and Hyein, had decided to comply with the court ruling, return to ADOR, and continue activities under the agency.   Shortly thereafter, it was reported that the remaining three members—Minji, Hanni, and Danielle—would also return to ADOR, thereby ending the year-long dispute between the group and the agency.   NewJeans members Hae-rin and Hye-in have decided to return to their agency, ADOR, after initially parting ways. The two members, who were previously aligned with former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin, have accepted the court's ruling, signaling a potential rift between Min Hee-jin and the five-member group.   Hae-rin and Hye-in's return to ADOR is perceived as a departure from former CEO Min Hee-jin. Min's absence had previously been a major factor in NewJeans' attempt to end their exclusive agreement with ADOR. In the end, they decided to follow the court's ruling and split from Min Hee-jin, returning to ADOR.   The focus now shifts to the other three members as these two rejoin ADOR and continue with their NewJeans activities. Minji is the lone Korean member, while Hani and Danielle are foreign nationals. It's unclear how the return of Hae-rin and Hye-in will affect the other three members. Before the final decision, the court attempted mediation twice in August and September, but neither party was able to reach a mutually agreeable agreement.   The legal dispute began when NewJeans claimed last year that their contract with ADOR had been terminated due to "breach of contract," and they announced plans for independent activities. In response, ADOR filed a lawsuit in December to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract and requested an injunction to prevent the members from pursuing independent activities until the main ruling is made.   The court sided with ADOR, and NewJeans' appeals were dismissed, preventing the members from engaging in independent activities without ADOR's approval until the main ruling is made. Additionally, in May, the court accepted ADOR's request for indirect enforcement, ordering NewJeans to pay 1 billion won per member for each violation if they pursued independent activities.   The main trial focused on the validity of the exclusive contract and the existence of grounds for termination. ADOR argued that "the contract is valid, and the company has diligently supported the artists," at the same time, NewJeans countered that "the trust relationship was completely broken due to the dismissal of former CEO Min Hee-jin."

Daniel recently cancelled a New Jersey show right before showtime.   Popular South Korean singer and actor Kang Daniel left fans confused this weekend after the last-minute cancellation of a show in New Jersey.   The entertainer‘s Saturday concert in Jersey City was called off due to unforeseen production issues, according to concert promoter Leo Presents.   The sold-out performance was set to take place at New Jersey City University’s Margaret Williams Theatre. The event’s staff announced the cancellation shortly before the show was set to start — fans had reportedly already entered the building and began taking their seats.   “Although the concert was prepared, unforeseen issues with the production made it impossible for the show to proceed as planned,” the staff’s statement read. It’s unclear what the specific issues were that led to the cancellation.   Daniel, 28, made his way to the stage to apologize to disappointed attendees. The singer said he still wanted to see his fans to thank them, even if he wasn’t performing.   All tickets purchased through the official ticketing site will be refunded in full, according to Daniel’s talent agency, ARA (Artistic Round Alliance).   The Saturday stop in Jersey City was the second of back-to-back shows as Daniel performed Friday in Washington, D.C.
