Popular South Korean singer and actor Kang Daniel left fans confused this weekend after the last-minute cancellation of a show in New Jersey.
The entertainer‘s Saturday concert in Jersey City was called off due to unforeseen production issues, according to concert promoter Leo Presents.
The sold-out performance was set to take place at New Jersey City University’s Margaret Williams Theatre. The event’s staff announced the cancellation shortly before the show was set to start — fans had reportedly already entered the building and began taking their seats.
“Although the concert was prepared, unforeseen issues with the production made it impossible for the show to proceed as planned,” the staff’s statement read.
It’s unclear what the specific issues were that led to the cancellation.
Daniel, 28, made his way to the stage to apologize to disappointed attendees. The singer said he still wanted to see his fans to thank them, even if he wasn’t performing.
All tickets purchased through the official ticketing site will be refunded in full, according to Daniel’s talent agency, ARA (Artistic Round Alliance).
The Saturday stop in Jersey City was the second of back-to-back shows as Daniel performed Friday in Washington, D.C. His next show is slated for Monday in Columbus, Ohio.
Daniel rose to fame after winning the South Korean reality competition show "Produce 101" in 2017.
